What do payments cost?
ACH bank transfers cost 1% of the invoice, capped at $15 per invoice. Cards cost 2.9% + 30¢, and you can pass the card fee to the payer. The cap is the point — on the big invoices crane work actually produces, ACH stays cheap:

Card math is 2.9% + 30¢ of the invoice. ACH math is 1%, and never more than $15.
What is never charged?
No per-customer fees, no setup fee, no onboarding fee, no data-export fee, no cancellation fee. Your certs and records export free, any time, on both plans.

How does Starter stay free?
Payments. When customers pay invoices through the portal, the processing fee includes Paper Pusher's share — and shops that outgrow 15 customer companies upgrade to Pro. That's the whole model: no ads, no selling data.
